More health, less pollution 1You know your grandparents or great depending on your age do not eat meat every day. Neither were vegetarians. Eating less meat can be healthier, live longer and avoid destroying the planet.

Reasons not to eat less meat
First let’s clear we’re not talking about becoming a vegetarian but lower meat consumption.

  1. High consumption of meat is associated with greater frequency in heart disease, some types of cancers and other diseases. This is because high levels of saturated fat contained in many animal products especially in animals with four legs.
  2. In all the studies about populations with high longevities consume less meat.
  3. It is estimated that worldwide more than two billion farm animals. These cause an enormous burden on the environment. Eating meat produces 40% more global warming pollution and transportation systems in the world. Food resources for farm animals might be sufficient to feed everyone and have more forests to purify the air we breathe.
  4. Farm animals are treated with antibiotics to prevent illness due to the state they are raised. For example yard chickens do not need antibiotics because they have room to walk and move, this does not happen on farms. These antibiotics contaminate water and soil to be evacuated by animals. Those who consume the animals also consume some of these antibiotics.
  5. Farm animals are treated with hormones to grow bigger and with more meat. Those who eat meat also eat hormones.
