What is Yellow Fever?
We’ve all heard of the yellow fever, but few know what this dangerous disease. Others may learn a bit more about it when traveling, as is required yellow fever vaccination if you visit certain countries in Africa or Latin America. It happens that those who are not native to the places where this disease is common have a good chance of contracting it.
Yellow fever is an acute viral infection transmitted through the bite of infected mosquitoes in the tropics. Although it was has been the cause of fatal epidemics in the past, today the victims of yellow fever are still numerous: nearly 200 000 people contract the disease each year and about 30,000 die from it.
