Vaccines in pregnancy: Is it necessary to apply any?
Routine vaccine in pregnant women is a tetanus shot. Apply two doses: the first between weeks 20 and 24, and the second four weeks after the first. This scheme can be modified on the basis of vaccination history of the mother.
Tetanus is an infectious disease caused by bacteria that infect wounds and produces a toxin (toxoid) that is fatal. The vaccine stimulates production of antibodies in maternal blood and protects the baby from neonatal tetanus, a very severe disease that is usually fatal.
In addition, you can apply vaccines containing inactivated virus such as hepatitis A or B and influenza vaccine, but you should always check with your obstetrician.
It is recommended that pregnant women who enrolled in the 2nd or 3er.trimestre of pregnancy during flu season, influenza vaccine is applied. The same, on one hand strengthened the defenses of the baby antibodies and the other, reduces the risk of premature birth.
However, do not apply during pregnancy those vaccines containing live attenuated viruses such as Sabin, MMR and varicella.
Outstanding post but I was wanting to know if you could write a litte more on this subject? I’d be very grateful if you could elaborate a little bit further. Cheers!
